MEET HELEN

There are five children in Helen's family.  All five children are siblings and spent four years in an orphanage. The children have been living with Helen since 2018 and we have been helping support them since 2019. They live in a village in the Sergiev Posadskiy district in the Moscow region. Because Helen must often be away for work, we have hired a second foster mother named Lucia to assist Helen.

Kolya is the oldest and was born in 2002.  Several years ago, he had trauma to his hip and now one leg is shorter than the other.  In 2019 he was in the hospital for this and now needs correctional/orthopedic insoles for his shoes.   Daniil was born in 2005 and suffers with frequent fevers as well as having speech problems. Sofia was born in 2006 and has curvature of her spine, as well as flat feet. Ivan was born in 2008 and has speech problems. He also works with a physical therapist.  Darya was born in 2009 and sees an endocrinologist.  She stutters when she is nervous and needs to work with a speech therapist.

Helen and all five of her children are one big happy family and they are all very blessed to have each other!

09/2022 FAMILY UPDATES: We continue to pay Lucia to help Helen take care of the five children, as she is a single mother who also works full time.

Laws prevent foreign adoption of Russian children, and disabled orphans are deemed undesirable and separated from society. Petrova’s Home is the first of its kind—a foster home and family environment for orphans with disabilities.

LEARN MORE

When a Russian orphan enters into Foster care the Russian Government will pay a small stipend for the care of the child(ren) as well as the salary of the caregiver. Petrova’s Promise will then add to both of these fees in order to ensure the best care is provided to the child.

Disabled Russian orphans rarely have access to medical care and equipment. Petrova's Promise is dedicated to helping the children that the world has forgotten about by providing medical care and equipment to children to help them grow and thrive.
